MUMBAI: Sensex rose 0.6 percent on Monday, tracking gains in Asia, but stocks related to a graft probe fell after Indian police charged three telecoms firms, a former minister and several executives with a range of crimes on Saturday.
Shares of Reliance Communications fell as much as 3.9 percent to 107.25 rupees, Unitech tumbled 8 percent to 38.50 rupees and DB Realty shed 5.1 percent to 110.60 rupees.
At 9:16 a.m. (0346 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 0.6 percent at 19,537.98 points, with 22 components advancing.
The 50-share NSE index was up 0.60 percent at 5,861.75.
